Sr. Technical Support Engineer

The Greer Group is seeking a Sr. Technical Support Engineer for a Biotechnology client in Durham, NC. This is a direct hire opportunity.
Purpose:
Provide support for all networks, platforms, and corporate applications. Troubleshoot, determine the source of the computer issue, and implement appropriate action to solve it. Understand the network infrastructure environment and provide support.
Responsibilities:
- Work with end users experiencing hardware or software issues to timely resolve and/or develop workarounds until a final resolution can be achieved.
- Research issues using all available resources including online forums or professional networks and generate ideas for solutions.
- Proactively address day-to-day network issues.
- Set up new laptops with base image for new employees and interact with management to determine access requirements.
- Assist with the onboarding of new personnel.
- Provide support for 3rd party applications, if needed.
- Create new users/mailboxes/accounts as needed in active directory.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with users regarding open equipment issues.
- Participate in scheduled after hours support along with other IT personnel.
- Train users in the proper use of hardware, software, and equipment.
- Create and assist in the maintenance of network documentation including working practices and SOPs.
- Provide support with facility management initiatives.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science or equivalent 10 years of experience in an IT support role.
- Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure, and Office 365.
- Basic knowledge of the fundamentals of network technology including, but not limited to, DNS, DHCP, infrastructure and wireless.
- Solid understanding of security best practices.
- Exceptional hardware/software troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
