Summary:  Under direction of the Director of Engineering, the Electrical Engineer designs, documents, or contracts out the control systems for MTR supplied equipment. S/he works closely with the customer to identify requirements and integrate the system into their facility.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1.       Work with Project Managers to implement control systems. Create and modify system documentation for MTR projects.  Review drawings and provide controls information. Provide support to the sales department as needed.

2.       Interface with customers.  Perform SAT, FAT, pre-commissioning and commissioning duties, internationally.

3.       Manage control panel fabrication through third party vendors.  Solve problems as they are encountered. 

4.       Increase usefulness of control panel in response to customer requests.

5.       Participate in HAZOP reviews of MTR systems.

6.       Willingness to work weekends, overtime and to travel is a must (20% to 30% is to be expected)

7.       Projects require international travel for engineering, start-up and maintenance (for up to 4 weeks)

 Competencies: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

·         Design and implement PLC and DCS based control systems for process plants.

·         Software skills: has superior technical skills in one or more software programs (knowledge of AutoCAD  is a must / AutoCAD-Electric is a plus)

·         Basic Knowledge of  programming Allen Bradley PLC and PLC-Display/HMI RSLogix software for ControlLogix, CompactLogix and MicroLogix PLCs OR other Platforms like SIEMENS, MODICON or any DCS Programming Software like HONEYWELL or EMERSON is a plus

·         Understanding of electrical and pneumatic diagrams

·         Electrical/control system design.

·         Able to generate control philosophies, logic diagrams, PLC software code, Hazop studies, and operating instructions for sophisticated  processing systems for use in petrochemical plants, refineries and natural gas processing plants.

·         Able to select and approve vendors for control system fabrication and supply.

·         In depth knowledge of state of the art  instrumentation for flow, temperature, pressure, level and composition.

·         Project management: able to budget, schedule and manage implementation of process plant control systems

·         Interpersonal skills: treats others with respect; relates effectively to others when encountering difficult situations

·         Customer service: responds efficiently and cordially to requests for service and assistance; meets commitments; works to understand customer needs and meet expectations

·         Problem solving: identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; works with others to solve issues

Education and/or Experience: BS in Electrical Engineering (a plus) or Mechanical/Chemical Engineering with controls background and a minimum of 5 years prior experience in controls-engineering.

Computer Skills:     To perform this job successfully, an individual must have excellent programming skills for PLC and DCS control systems and be competent in the use of ACAD and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Other Skills and Abilities:  OSHA safety certified, GMP training, LOTO

Physical Demands:  This position requires frequent overseas travel for protracted periods.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly uses hands and fingers. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
