BASIC FUNCTION The basic function of the Junior Estimator is to assist the Lead estimator in developing accurate estimates from client drawings and specifications and to assist with the development of quotes, schedules of values, and material lists. This position also requires some sales and customer service.
 JOB REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to complete all areas outlined for this position in a satisfactory manner.  Listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities necessary to meet the minimum job requirements.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
 EDUCATION
  1. Required:  High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Preferred: Technical courses related to construction or an engineering degree relating to construction or construction management
LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
  1. Required:  Valid Driver’s License
  2. Preferred:  None
EXPERIENCE
  1. Required:  Three or more years’ experience in the construction trade.
  2. Preferred:  Five or more years of experience in the office with a construction contractor preparing estimates of jobs in the range of $150,000 to $5.0 million.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
  1. Reads, writes and understands English in order to read and interpret plans, specifications, schedules, and related documentation with an understanding of how each relate to overall job costs. Spanish is optional but recommended.
  2. Ability to use the Company’s financial software and estimating package to input estimates.
  3. Computer skilled with Planswift, Bluebeam, Adobe, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  4. Ability to work with customers and to sell the reputation and services that the Company offers when necessary.
  5. Ability to use mathematics and have an excellent understanding of construction to determine accurate material take-offs and labor estimates.
  6. Extensive knowledge of prospecting and sales techniques.​​​​​​​
  7. Knowledge of the existing and potential local, and regional construction clients 
  8. Ability to work closely with diverse groups of people, including Company employees at all levels and customers.​​​​​​​
  9. Ability and knowledge to operate telephone systems, computer systems and software, and the internet.​​​​​​​
  10. Excellent telephone manners, voice, and skills in order to make phone sales and answer questions from prospective customers.​​​​​​​
  11. Ability to work on multiple tasks and sales presentations simultaneously.
  12. Excellent listening skills and the ability to pay attention to detail.​​​​​​​
  13. Ability to recognize and follow priorities.​​​​​​​
  14. Ability to work independently and with little direct supervision.
Compensation
This position is a junior position and the candidate will receive training from the Lead Estimator.
