Pipeline Scoping Specialist

Under the direction of the Pipeline Design Manager, the role of a Pipeline Scoping Specialist is critical to the success of creating accurate pipeline as-built and alignment drafting deliverables. A pipeline scoper is a professional responsible for defining, evaluating, and documenting the scope of pipeline design projects to meet client needs. This role is crucial in ensuring that pipeline projects are clearly defined, planned, and executed efficiently and effectively. Pipeline scopers work closely with various stakeholders, including engineers, design specialists, project managers, field operations teams, and clients to gather required documents, drawings, GIS data, and prepare reports for successful project delivery.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review client project documentation to define and identify requirements for closeout.
  • Research Completion Drawings, As-Built Redline Drawings, BOMs, Construction Orders, etc.
  • Gather information from client documentation, drawings or project tracking portals which includes technical specifications, regulatory compliance, environmental considerations, and budget constraints.
  • Review preliminary and finalized pipeline Alignment Sheets and Station Drawings.
  • Review, compare, and validate pipeline hand sketches.
  • Compare information from GIS systems, Google Earth, and Google Maps with client documentation.
  • Identify and reach out to relevant client personnel to attain additional information for projects.
  • Prepare clear and detailed reports for internal review.

Qualifications:

  • High School or GED and up to 3 years’ experience in the Oil and Gas industry, preferably within the pipeline industry and within downstream processing facilities.
  • Experience with scoping, project planning, or scheduling in pipeline projects or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings, particularly with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CADWorx is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel.
  • Familiarity with GIS systems for mapping and spatial analysis.
  • Ability to thoroughly research and gather necessary information for project scoping
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and track completion statuses.
  • High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in project documentation and drawings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
