Job Summary (review)

Reads and interprets various types of build documents to assemble servers and switches into data IT racks. Install Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a and fiber optic cables utilizing industry standards and best practices.

 

Duties and Responsibilities (review)

  • Conducts installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance procedures.
  • Maintains data center system documentation.
  • Terminating cable and distribution frames
  • Performs cabling, racking, and server installations.
  • May communicate and operate both internally and externally.
  • Provides training and support to other Technicians regarding repair techniques and procedures.
  • Comply with quality performance standards.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Responsible for following warehouse safety regulations.
  • All other duties assigned, based on the business the warehouse supports.

 

Required Skills and Experience (review)

  • 3+ years of prior experience cabling complex data rack systems.
  • May be required to pass a Technical Aptitude Test.
  • Strong knowledge of Data Center technology, electronics, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Must understand data rack cabling standards and best practices
  • Proficient in utilizing cable and fiber test equipment.
  • Handling Hard Drive devices and keeping ESD policy standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret various types of build document, schematics and cable running lists
  • Safely operate various handtools, maintain accurate inventory, and maintain safety standards.
  • Proficiency in computer skills required for precise data entry of completed units.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail in task completion.

  • Analytical mindset and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Time-management skills.
  • Eagerness for continuous learning.

 

Educational Requirements (review)

  • High School Diploma, BICSI certifications preferred
