Join our team as a Systems Administrator supporting our team at our HQ in Chantilly, VA and play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our organization's IT infrastructure.

Position Overview:

NS2 Mission is seeking an experienced Sr. Systems Administrator with a strong background in Windows and Linux operating systems, comprehensive networking experience, and an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing our IT infrastructure to ensure maximum performance, security, and availability. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • System Administration:
    • Manage and maintain Windows and Linux servers, and VMware systems.
    • Install, Configure, and troubleshoot operating systems, software, applications and patches across various platforms
    • Monitor system performance, conduct performance tuning, and implementing capacity planning measures.
    • Perform routine system maintenance tasks such as backups software updates and security enhancements.
    • Design, configure, and manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
    • Collaborate with other IT team members to design and implement network security measures.
  • Security:
    • Implement and enforce security policies and procedures to protect company assets and data.
    • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
    • Respond to and mitigate security incidents and breaches.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to system connectivity and software functionality
    • Respond promptly to system alerts, incidents and service outages.
    • Document troubleshooting procedures and resolutions.
  • Collaboration and Support:
    • Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and end-users.
    • Collaborate with developers, engineers, and other stakeholders to support IT-related projects and initiatives.
    • Document system configurations, procedures, and processes for reference and training purposes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration with a focus on Windows and Linux environments.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols, concepts, and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs).
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Strong understanding of IT security best practices and experience with security tools and frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
  • Relevant certification: Security + w CEU’s

Preferred Skill and Qualifications

  • Cisco Networking Experience
  • Puppet/Ansible
  • Scripting Bash/PowerShell/Python
