This position is responsible for the development and expansion of SMC’s automation solutions in new and existing accounts throughout the Springfield, MO area. The position will be responsible for the development and implementation of sales strategies and plans to identify new as well as grow the established business at accounts, meet or exceed annual sales goals and grow market share across our entire automation portfolio, with a focus but not limited to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Software, Industrial Visualization (HMI) products and Services. In doing so this person must be able to effectively lead this vertical focus by successfully working autonomously as well as collectively with the entire SMC team (Customer Service, Account Managers, Peer Specialists, and Operations Management) to ensure all opportunities and accounts are supported and handled appropriately at the local branches. Excellent communication skills are critical as the ability to interact and influence effectively across all levels of new and existing accounts as well as internally within SMC. Technically this person must be able to identify, develop and customize multi-product, multi-vendor solutions with hardware, software, and services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Customers on selecting products for applications, projects and other requests pre-sale.
  • Communicate and align with the SMC account management team support their customers
  • Assist Customers on post-sale technical questions, issues and/or commercial situations
  • Listen and communication effectively with clients to understand and provide solutions that can meet their needs while being able to work and manage relationships with key buying influences and senior management at customers.
  • Work collaboratively with the local Rockwell Automation business leadership team to provide technical and commercial focus for our mutual customers.
  • Knowledge of Competitors - ability to develop strategy to compete with defined competitors
