Summary

Department: Respiratory Therapy

Shift Timings: 18:30 - 07:00Monday to Friday (3 Days/12 Hours)

Per Week: 36 Hours.


The Respiratory Care department provides 24/7 care to adult patients in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, and Acute Care Units who require respiratory assessments and treatments.

The team of respiratory therapists is supported by a charge therapist. Respiratory therapists wear grey scrubs.


Depending on their background and competencies, respiratory therapists may be assigned adult patients in the Emergency Department, one of three Intensive Care Units, or between two and three Acute Care units.

Cerner is the EMR.


We prefer 1 to 2 years of experience and we prefer previous experience with mechanically ventilated adult patients.


Roles & Responsibilities

Assess patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develops a plan of care based on diagnosis.

Implement and monitor patient care plan and equipment.

Monitor, record and communicate patient condition.

Perform advanced respiratory care modalities.

Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcome.

Educate the patient and family about the health condition and provides information about community support groups and other available programs.

Respond to emergency resuscitation team code.


Minimum Qualifications:

Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required.

Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.

Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.

1 to 2 years of clinical experience in respiratory therapy preferred.

Previous experience with mechanically ventilated adult patients preferred.
