Job Description: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Austin, Texas

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our patient-focused care team. In this role, you will perform critical care and diagnostic procedures to diagnose and treat cardiopulmonary diseases across all age groups. Your responsibilities will include maintaining respiratory equipment, ensuring quality control, and performing a variety of administrative and technical tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate various respiratory care equipment.
  • Perform a range of technical procedures related to cardiopulmonary hemodynamics.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in airway care.
  • Assess patients accurately, interpret results, and suggest alternative respiratory treatments.
  • Conduct routine patient assessments and recognize and interpret respiratory dysfunction.
  • Act as a respiratory care protocol assessor by delivering therapy, reassessing patients timely, and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with physicians and nurses to update and coordinate patient care plans.
Qualifications:

Experience:
  • Preferred experience in an acute care hospital setting.
Education:
  • Graduate of an American Medical Association accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Current Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (required for NICU RRT staff).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (required for ICU RRT staff).
Additional Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong competency in performing respiratory equipment maintenance and quality control.
  • Ability to accurately assess and interpret patient conditions and results.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with medical staff regarding patient care.
  • Proficiency in maintaining detailed and accurate patient documentation.
