Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Construction Superintendent to support our on-site construction activities. The Assistant Superintendent will assist the Superintendent in overseeing daily operations, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring the project is delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Site Supervision: Assist the Superintendent in managing daily construction activities on-site, ensuring work is executed according to plans, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate Subcontractors: Help coordinate the work of subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring all tasks are performed in alignment with the project schedule and quality requirements.
  • Quality Control: Conduct inspections to ensure all work complies with project plans, specifications, and quality standards. Report any deviations and assist in implementing corrective measures.
  • Safety Oversight: Promote a culture of safety on the job site. Conduct safety orientations, monitor compliance with safety protocols, and ensure all workers adhere to OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Scheduling Support: Assist in maintaining and updating the project schedule. Communicate schedule changes to the project team and ensure critical milestones are met.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, time sheets, safety records, and other required documentation. Assist in preparing reports and updating project documentation.
  • Material Management: Monitor and manage material deliveries to ensure they are on-site as needed and meet project requirements. Report any discrepancies or shortages to the Superintendent.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and help resolve on-site issues promptly. Work with the Superintendent and project team to address challenges and keep the project moving forward.
  • Client and Stakeholder Interaction: Support the Superintendent in communicating with clients, architects, and other stakeholders to provide updates on project progress and address any concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in construction, preferably in a supervisory or assistant superintendent role.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend) and MS Office Suite.
  • OSHA 30 certification or willingness to obtain.
