A young, Downtown Denver civil litigation law firm seeks an entry level paralegal. This is an excellent opportunity for exposure to the legal field and for training in skills necessary to become an experienced litigation paralegal. No prior experience necessary. The firm will provide training in its firm management software, billing platform, and litigation filing systems. Culture fit and the ability to learn required. The firm is seeking someone ambitious to grow with our firm in the long run. Ideally, the candidate would develop into a litigation paralegal with increased substantive legal work and commensurate pay.

The firm will consider candidates for part-time or full-time work. Pay starting at $20 per hour with increase available as skills develop. Initially, the candidate will be required to work in office with potential for hybrid remote work as proves feasible. The firm is open to considering independent contractors, though this position is anticipated to be a W-2 relationship.

Responsibilities will include

- Greeting clients and prospective clients to the office.

- Answering phone calls and communicating with clients and vendors.

- Scheduling and calendaring appointments and hearings internally and with opposing counsel and the court.

- Scheduling internal deadlines.

- Intake paperwork, data entry, and opening new client matters.

- Maintaining client files, both electronic and hard copy.

- Copying, printing, and scanning documents.

- Ensuring the office is organized and clean for client appointments.

- Administrative/clerical tasks as assigned by the attorneys.

- After demonstrating requisite skills, drafting simple legal documents, pleadings, demand letters, discovery requests, and basic motions.

- Assistance with trial and hearing preparation.

- Social media and website blog review and posting.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree or paralegal training/certificate.

- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

- Communication skills and friendly disposition.

- Ability to use, assess, and modify template documents correctly and with attention to detail.

- Smart, with the ability to take direction and learn.

- Interest in a career in the legal field.

- Culture fit.

- Willingness to ask questions and obtain clarity.

- Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate litigation deadlines and trial preparation.

- Must be able to commute daily to the firm's office in downtown Denver.

The following are preferred, though not required to be considered:

- Experience with Smokeball, LawPay, and/or Colorado’s E-Filing System.

- Personal or professional familiarity or experience with the firm’s primary fields of practice, including construction, real estate, and business.
