The School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) at Lehman College is seeking a Program Coordinator to support the Queens-Bronx Express (QBE): English for Work Initiative at Lehman College. The program provides fast pathways for asylum seekers with work authorization into careers, especially healthcare careers.  Reporting to the Associate Director of the Workforce Programs, the program coordinator is responsible for supporting the planning, launching, outreach, recruitment, and contextualized training for the program. The program coordinator is responsible for asylum seeker support (screening, assessment, case management, referrals, and tracking), culminating in successful student employment. The program coordinator will work closely with the Lehman team, including staff from multiple departments and faculty and other CUNY programs and government agencies.

Responsibilities

·       Coordinating outreach, recruitment, screening, pre-assessment, and enrollment of new applicants.

·       Conducting program intake and assessments (English language (BEST Plus) and computer skills)

·       Managing official student records in Xenegrade, i.e., program registration, course registration, attendance

·       Conducting individual advisement sessions with candidates. Referring candidates to the appropriate training track.

·       Coordinating and communicating with Workforce, Continuing Education, CUNY on the Concourse and SCPS leadership regarding program support.

·       Providing support with candidates’ enrollment in the NYC WorkForce1 system.

·       Supervising enrollment of 150 qualified students in the ESL/CPR Program and 75 students in the ESL/CNA program over two years.

·       Designing and leading workshops on such topics as interviewing skills, managing test anxiety and stress.

·       Identifying and establishing reciprocal referral relationships with similar CUNY programs, other training providers, social service agencies, and local immigrant organizations to meet students’ needs.

·       Providing crisis intervention and alerting the Associate Director to program needs.

·       Maintaining an active job-entry referral process with the NYC WorkForce1 system, and with employer partners.

·       Participating in funder update meetings and reporting activities, including the writing of monthly reports on program and student outcomes using compiled data and student feedback.

·       Other duties as required.

Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree with at least two (2) years of relevant work experience related to workforce educational program coordination, preferably in higher education administration or in the professional learning and development arena.

·       Excellent communication and facilitation skills.

·       Experience with employer engagement.

·       Resourceful in finding appropriate training programs for candidates.

·       Must have a passion for helping immigrants to navigate the US systems.

·       Schedule flexibility: able to work at CUNY on the Concourse, Bronx, in-person 2-3 days a week and work remotely the remainder of the schedule. Occasionally support evening program events.

Preferred Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with at least three (3) years’ experience working in programs targeting immigrant populations.

·       Knowledge and experience of the CUNY system and/or NYC government agencies, i.e., Workforce 1.

·       Experience in continuing education/workforce development.

·       Bilingual – Spanish speaker
