We are seeking a Plastic Extrusion Production Supervisor to join our busy, growing, team-oriented company. This is a growth opportunity as we seek to promote from within.

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibility for implementing plans and goals as noted on the Production Schedule.  Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assigning job responsibilities to team members (extrusion operators) on each shift based on priorities noted on the Production Schedule
  • Assisting team members with start-ups, set ups, clean ups as needed
  • Monitoring and documenting status of each team member’s Quality Assurance checks at required frequency (hourly for more experienced personnel, more often for less experienced)
  • Scheduling team members lunch breaks fairly and to minimize disruption of production
  • Assisting with movement of raw material from and to warehouse and of finished product to QA Hold Area
  • Training team members as needed during shift
  • Maintaining team discipline and direction through corrective actions including initiating verbal and written disciplinary actions
  • Eliminating distractions and safety hazards such as unnecessary usage of cell phones, music or video players, et cetera by team members, and ensuring compliance with safety rules including use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Monitoring individual team member development through training, coaching, and formal written Performance Reviews as scheduled
  • Communicating effectively with Supervisor or Leader of oncoming shift for job requirements
  • During shift overlap and before leaving, walking through the production area to assure all scrap from the shift is ground, spills are cleaned up, excess water is removed, and tooling and fixtures from completed jobs are returned to the tool room or to Q
  • Documenting shift performance through effective use of logbook, shift report, and other communication tools
  • Ensuring good housekeeping to reduce waste and promote product quality, team member safety, and production efficiency
  • Enforcing Company policies as stated in Employee Handbook
  • Ensuring routine maintenance, adjustment, and upkeep of extrusion line equipment; initiating Maintenance Work Orders for non-routine maintenance and/or repairs
  • Loading/unloading trucks (when needed)

 

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in plastics manufacturing highly desirable
  • Previous hands-on experience in manufacturing, mechanical, or related fields
  • Good troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Basic arithmetic and measurement skills
  • Ability to handle physical workload in a team environment
  • Stable three-shift, five day work schedule
