SUMMARY
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
The Instructional Coach under the direct guidance of the Assistant Principal of Instruction is responsible for bringing evidence-based practices into classrooms by working with and supporting teachers with the goal of increasing student engagement, improving student achievement, and building teacher capacity. He or she works as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning and will focus on individual and group professional development that will expand and refine the understanding of researched-based effective instruction and provide personalized support that is based on the goals and identified needs of individual teachers.

The following are essential duties related to the Instructional Coach position:

  • Support the instructional development of all teachers in understanding the curriculum, instructional practice, assessments, and data analysis.
  • Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc. to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resources.
  • Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and other coaches.
  • Provide direction and coordination for how the curriculum is taught consistent with Academy initiatives and recognized best instructional practices.
  • Support in the creation of an articulated master schedule with other administrators.
  • Assist teachers in understanding CCAH’s mission and core values.
  • Provide instructional support to collaborative teams within buildings.
  • In conjunction with the Assistant Principal of Instruction and Data Coach, analyze and use data to improve instruction on all levels.
  • Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students.
  • Support teachers by helping with multiple instructional strategies/processes during planning times.
  • Informally observe lessons and provide feedback for a teacher’s professional growth and students’ success.
  • Develop staff members’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development targeted topics and designs.
  • Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement.
  • Submit a weekly coaching log and any pertinent data requests/coaching documentation.
  • Maintain folders with pertinent coaching information and educational plans including but not limited to curriculum resources, pacing guides, curriculum maps, lesson plans, feedback tools, etc.
  • Participate in monthly Instructional Coach meetings and other district initiative meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, Master's (preferred)
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written communications.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member in developing and providing services to students.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience teaching, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs.
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues, including the ability to create and nurture a professional community of adult learners.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Proven ability in using student-level data to guide instructional decisions.
  • Strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise.
  • Demonstrated expertise in oral and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Models continual improvement, demonstrates lifelong learning and applies new learning to help all students achieve.
  • Demonstrates evidence of professional growth, including leadership and participation in a wide range of significant professional development activities.
