Boutique Retail Associate

Classification: Non-exempt Reports to: Owner

Availability

9am-5pm Monday-Friday

1-2 Saturdays/month expected

About You

The Retail Associate is responsible for assisting boutique and online guests with purchases and supporting the overall operations of the Chocolaterie. More importantly, the Retail Associate is the face of the boutique and has an opportunity to connect with our clients to create memorable experiences. To be successful in this role, you must be passionate about customer service, a great attention to detail, and a positive and flexible approach to working with a small team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following reflects the essential duties for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities of this job at any time. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Represent the Deux Cranes Chocolate Boutique in a positive manner; greet customers and assist them with purchases.

  • Communicate the value and quality of Deux Cranes products via knowledgeable explanations and persuasive sampling.

  • Collect and process payment for purchases; follow cash handling and credit card policies and procedures.

  • Answer phone calls and respond to email inquiries.

  • Assist Chocolatiers with packaging finished products.

  • Prepare products for shipping and fulfillment.

  • Organize shipping/delivery process; keep accurate records.

  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the boutique.

  • Assist with ordering supplies and counting inventory.

  • Receive deliveries; verify vendor invoices with delivery specs and check product quality.

  • Perform work duties in accordance with company safety and security policies and procedures as well as OSHA regulations.

  • Represent Deux Crane’s values on a daily basis.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Computer Skills – Must be proficient in using common programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel and be able to operate basic office machines

  • Attention to Detail - Must be detail-oriented; able to follow processes and routines

  • Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem

  • Troubleshooting - Determine causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it

  • Prioritization – Must be able to adjust to changing priorities and complete multiple projects despite interruptions

  • Comprehension and Expression - The ability to comprehend and communicate information and ideas so others will understand

  • Physical Demands – Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. at a time; ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time; push, pull, and bend as necessary; ability to grasp items and be steady

    Experience - Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Minimum of 6 months of retail experience

  • Prior experience with Shopify strongly preferred

    Work Environment

  • Indoor setting

  • Moderate noise levels

  • Frequent use of computer (point of sale system)

  • Active, working kitchen
