We are a growing consumer goods brand and are looking for a sharp Accounting Supervisor who will, in partnership with the Accounting Manager, oversee and guide the full general ledger activity, month-end close, and financial reporting to leadership and parent company. We are looking for an eager learner and someone with the potential to grow into higher roles. We are in a growth phase and are looking for individuals that will contribute at a higher-level, leading process improvements and elevating the quality of our reporting. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares the full suite of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and reviews all reporting for presentation to the leadership team and key stakeholders. 
  • Oversees the daily accounting operations and ensures accurate activity within the general ledger. 
  • Leads the monthly financial close processes, ensuring proper reconciliation of accounts and adjustments. 
  • Reviews balance sheet account reconciliations and ensures accurate general ledger journal entries, providing clear descriptions and adhering to internal controls.
  • Reviews account trend information and annual budget data, preparing and maintaining journals of questions, responses, and action items.
  • Recommends modifications to policies, procedures, and system applications to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provides review comments on variance explanations, balance sheet account reconciliations, and financial statement preparations.
  • Creates and supports standardized financial process and accounting procedure policies.
  • Manages high volume and complex issues, ensuring clerical accuracy and thorough documentation of center-specific nuances.
  • Oversees preparation of fixed asset details, depreciation schedules, and account roll-forwards. Reviews monthly operating expense trend reports and annual budgets, ensuring high accuracy and clear variance explanations.
  • Demonstrates infrequent errors, accepts accountability, and implements tools to prevent recurrence.
  • Manages time effectively, adheres to close schedules, and provides auditor-requested information promptly.

Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience in a consumer goods environments (i.e., manufacturing, retail, distribution, wholesale, etc.)
  • Previous experience as an Accounting Manager with direct reports in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong quantitative, problem-solving, and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage employees and multitask on large projects
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred but not required
