Job DescriptionJob Description

The primary duty of the job will be safely operating a Loader keeping the transfer station floor clear of waste allowing additional truck traffic an open clean floor to empty additional loads of waste, as well as loading transfer trailers with waste for outbound transport.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned and may vary by location.

Pushing waste up on the floor in staging areas for loading.

Loading transfer trailers with outbound waste from the floor.

Directing the flow of traffic on the floor of transfer to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Responsible for equipment inspection, pre and post – shift inspections.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Working knowledge of heavy-equipment operating principles.

Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations.

Ability to understand and follow instructions.

Ability to communicate effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to observe proper safety precautions.

Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.

Ability to drive and operate a variety of equipment under varying conditions.


QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or G.E.D.

Minimum 2 years’ experience operating loaders.

Other equipment operation is preferred.

Flexibility on days of the week.

Must have and maintain throughout employment a valid Driver’s License as well as meet eligibility requirements of acceptable driver standards as defined by the company.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC WORKING CONDITIONS: The following environmental/atmospheric working conditions are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position. The actual working conditions will vary.

Exposure to residential, industrial, and commercial waste.

Occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions and loud noises

Occasional lift/carry 50 pounds 1-2 feet.

Frequently lift/carry up to 50 pounds.

Sitting, climbing, overhead reaching, balancing, kneeling, and crawling.

Frequent standing, walking, stair climbing, stooping, and firm grasping.

Constant forward reaching and simple grasping.
