Tarpon Pointe Marina is a fast growing marina located on the Manatee River in search of a General Manager. The general manager oversees the daily operations and administration of the marina facility. Candidate is responsible for ensuring the marina operates efficiently, provides exceptional customer service, and maintains a safe and well-maintained environment for all patrons and staff. The General Manager also plays a key role in managing financial performance, staff supervision, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Management:

    • Manage and oversee all marina operations, including dockage, slip rentals, fuel services, and maintenance.
    • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and implement protocols to maintain a safe environment for staff and patrons.
    • Supervise the scheduling of staff, including dockhands, maintenance crew, and administrative personnel.
    • Monitor and maintain facility cleanliness, landscaping, and general appearance.

  2. Financial Management:

    • Work with corporate to manage annual budgets, including revenue projections and expense control.
    • Monitor financial performance against budget and implement strategies to achieve financial targets.
    • Oversee billing, invoicing, and collection processes for dry slip rentals and other services.

  3. Customer Service:

    • Foster a culture of exceptional customer service among staff.
    • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.
    • Implement initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.

  4. Staff Management:

    • Recruit, interview, train, and supervise marina staff.
    • Work with corporate to conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and coaching to staff.
    • Foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork and accountability.

  5. Regulatory Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing marina operations, environmental standards, and safety protocols.
    • Stay informed about changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments to operations and policies.

  6. Marketing and Business Development:

    • Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract new customers and retain existing customer base.
    • Collaborate with corporate office to promote marina services through various channels.
    • Explore opportunities for business expansion and revenue growth.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Business Administration, Business Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience (3 years) in marina management or related industry, with a track record of leadership and operational success.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and financial performance.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of marine safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of employees.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and marina management software (e.g., MOLO Marina Management, Boat Cloud, Dockwa).
  • Qualified candidates MUST have the ability to work weekends and major marine holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, 4th of July.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects, such as dock equipment and supplies.
