PAYROLL SPECIALIST JOB DESCRIPTION

Pay Range: $60,000 to $ 78,000 annually.

FTE: 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week), non-exempt, 9AM-5PM M-F

Title: Payroll Specialist

MHAAO is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our team This position will be responsible for all payroll functions of the organization. The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about and committed to the mission of MHAAO. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process multistate semimonthly payroll.
  • Assist in data entry of new hires.
  • Process all terminated employees and calculate manual checks.
  • Research employee payroll inquiries or answers questions in a timely manner
  • Assist with annual merit increases, special, and retroactive calculations.
  • Assist with other special projects as required.
  • Assist in the review of bi-weekly and special payrolls.
  • Process Wage Garnishments and Child Support requests
  • Organize Payroll Storage and documentation.
  • Report to 401k, HSA, FSA carriers

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience managing high-volume Payroll (at least 100+ employees).
  • Accounting and Human Resource experience a plus.
  • Proficient in ADP Workforce Now and ADP Workforce Now Time & Attendance
  • Experience processing Payroll & Benefits-related journal entries via an accounting system (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, NetSuite)
  • Working knowledge of wage & hours laws.
  • Familiar with Oregon and Washington state & federal taxes.
  • Great energy, engaging, and enjoys collaborating with the team.
  • Experience in administration of any Time & Attendance system.
  • Great follow-through skills, and good with math and logic.
  • Great customer service mindset.
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to communicate in written form.

Knowledge, skills, & abilities

  • Basic office skills and abilities, knowledge of standard office equipment and software including Google Docs, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, Dropbox and ability and willingness to learn new and/or proprietary applications as necessary.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments under high pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work overtime if needed.
  • Understanding details of full payroll processes
  • Understanding of pre-tax payroll deductions
