Job DescriptionJob DescriptionOur client, a large NYC government agency is seeking a Digital Content Specialist for a 2 year contract assignment in downtown Brooklyn.  This position requires 2 days onsite per week in the client office in downtown Brooklyn.The successful candidate will support the Digital Content Strategy Program, a key initiative within the client aimed at developing a comprehensive framework and policies to produce high-quality IT-related digital content for client end-users, including families, students, and staff.

  • Communication Strategy Development: Design and implement communication and product rollout strategies for various stakeholders, including families, schools, and DOE offices.
  • Digital Communication: Develop and execute digital communication strategies and processes, ensuring consistency and effectiveness across all platforms.
  • Content Creation: Produce materials for digital channels, events, and multimedia content, including presentations, videos, email campaigns, surveys, guides, and website updates.
  • Project Management: Set priorities and coordinate with project teams to develop and deliver communication plans, ensuring projects are completed on time and meet desired outcomes.
  • Feedback and Engagement: Establish end-user feedback processes to enhance engagement with DOE IT application content and continuously improve communication strategies.
  • Technical Translation: Translate complex technical information into clear, engaging, and accessible content for end-users.
  • Documentation: Maintain a comprehensive repository of IT-related reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications.
Mandatory Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of experience as a content strategist or in a similar role with progressively increasing responsibilities.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in developing digital content with a focus on user-centered design principles.
  • 4+ years of experience in content creation and publishing processes within large organizations.
  • Proficient knowledge of WCAG 2.0 AA standards and experience in creating content that meets these accessibility requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing communications that support localization and translation efforts.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience in developing long-form case studies for publication.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as communications, journalism, political science, education policy, or a technical discipline.
  • Experience in management roles within large, complex organizations, particularly in public relations or communications.
  • Familiarity with education and technology issues and organizational change management processes.
  • Fluency in HTML-editing tools and Content Management Systems, with experience in Sitefinity being a plus.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Digital design skills or a strong eye for design are a plus.
