Job Description 

Position: Purchasing Agent 

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for coordinating the procurement of various products and services, including aircraft parts, tooling, raw materials, outside processes, and other special procurements as identified by management. 

Responsibilities: 

Source Identification: Identify and evaluate sources for a variety of products. 

RFQ Preparation: Prepare RFQs to obtain competitive bids from approved sources. 

Proposal Evaluation: Evaluate and negotiate supplier proposals. 

Supplier Review: Review and evaluate supplier qualifications, lead times, and costs. 

Data Communication: Provide cost and lead time information to management. 

Order Management: Prepare purchase orders and determine appropriate purchasing methods such as blanket agreements. 

Supplier Relations: Develop strategic supplier relationships and act as the primary liaison with suppliers. 

Record Maintenance: Maintain records of items or services purchased. 

Dispute Resolution: Address supplier disputes and performance deficiencies. 

Performance Monitoring: Monitor and control supplier delivery performance and inventory levels. 

Quality Control: Discuss defective or unacceptable goods with inspection or quality control personnel to determine cause and recommend corrective action. 

Market Intelligence: Provide market intelligence to management as appropriate. 

Invoice Approval: Approve invoices for payment. 

Order Expediting: Expedite delivery of goods to users. 

Internal Liaison: Maintain communication with internal departments. 

Order Progress Feedback: Provide feedback regarding the progress of orders, including delays. 

Process Improvement: Participate in improvement processes within and outside the department. 

Specification Assurance: Ensure proper specifications are listed on Purchase/Repair Orders. 

Customer Service Support: Prepare part estimates and provide quotes to the customer service department. 

Qualifications: 

Knowledge of industry suppliers 

Aerospace industry knowledge preferred 

Strong negotiation and contracting skills 

Analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities 

Ability to compile and present data to facilitate information sharing and decision-making
