JOB SUMMARY:      

Under general supervision, to install, repair and maintain electrical wiring systems in resident manors and community facilities; perform related work as required.  Work is usually performed independently of others and involves regular contact with other divisions, departments and with residents in their homes.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:          

  • Performs preventive and emergency maintenance on high- and low-voltage equipment, meters, control equipment and wiring. 
  • Repairs fans and heaters, troubleshoots, locates and repairs home wiring shorts and other malfunctions.
  • Performs preventive electrical maintenance and repair work on yard and swimming pool lighting systems, installs light bulbs and ballasts.
  • Repairs and replaces defective parts in motors, generators, switchboards, controllers, other fixtures and appliances.
  • Drives a truck and maintains a truck inventory of materials and supplies.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school and experience in electrical maintenance and repair work or equivalent combination of education and experience that produces the following:

  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job.
  • Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools and materials of the electrical trade.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and other applicable standards and regulations.
  • Ability to read and write work-related job instructions in English.
  • Ability to locate, correct and adjust defects in electrical wiring systems.
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others in English.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and residents.
  • Skill in the use and care of tools, materials and equipment used in the electrical trade.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

  • Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
