Frontier Cooperative is seeking a Fleet Maintenance and Repair Technician for our Syracuse, NE location.  The Fleet Maintenance and Repair Technician is responsible for the repair, servicing, preventive maintenance, and inspection of light, medium and heavy-duty Frontier Cooperative trucks. 


Essential duties:  

  • Perform basic auto care and maintenance tasks such as batteries, oil changes, fluid level checks, and tire rotation.
  • Repair and replace brake pads, wheel bearings, sensors, and other parts.
  • Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Replacing any parts on a vehicle that have become defective.
  • Measuring vehicle emissions and making corrections to get them within legal limits.
  • Service, troubleshoot, and perform basic automotive repairs on engines and related components of electrical, mechanical, and computerized vehicle systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and DOT inspections.
  • Orders and receives parts.
  • Occasional internal billing may be required.
  • May respond to road calls and make on-site repairs.
  • Participates in cleaning and maintaining shop equipment and work areas.


Job skills and requirements:

  • Knowledge of methods of servicing, troubleshooting, diagnoses, and repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and computer component malfunctions of light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and local environmental and inspection laws and regulations applicable to vehicle and equipment standards. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools; operating a variety of computerized monitors, scanners, and analyzers with an understanding of computer codes to diagnose equipment and vehicle problems; reading, understanding, and utilizing technical repair manuals and schematics; operating a computer terminal. 
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent. Completion of a technical or trade school program in automotive and heavy truck technology.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the repair and service of automobiles, light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks.
