Primary Functions:

  1. Functions as the point person for outside services (e.g., Elliot lab, Quest lab, CMC lab, Crown).
  2. Monitors, maintains, and stocks nurse stations daily.
  3. Track clinical supplies, ensures items are received as ordered, stocked, and ensures packing slips are sent to Accounts Payable.
  4. Ensures exam room checklist compliance (infection control, stocking of supplies/expired items) is monitored and maintained monthly.
  5. Provides MA bucket support daily.
  6. Provides necessary support for unexpected absences; identifies staffing solutions in collaboration with clinical nurse leadership to ensure patient care, treatment, and services are met.
  7. Precepts new Medical Assistants.
  8. Monitors appropriate office supply par levels and orders as needed.
  9. Follows up on specimen/POC issues/concerns as needed.
  10. Assists clinical nurse leadership with investigations related to patient care as needed.
  11. Provides backup to Immunization Coordinator and assist with immunization preparations as needed.
  12. Conducts Point of Care training.
  13. Assist with the implementation of new or revised policies, procedures, and workflows by using positive messaging and sharing best practices.
  14. Function as the instrument sterilization point person with our community partner.
  15. Supports and promotes organizational priority projects.
  16. Promotes quality and safety in all tasks and communications.

Secondary Functions:

  1. Assists with data gathering for various special projects, grants, and other purposes.
  2. Assists with data clean-up or patient follow-up as needed.
  3. Prepares clients to see medical providers, collect and record health history data, and prepare the room based on the reason for the visit.
  4. Assists providers with procedures and functions as a chaperone when necessary.
  5. Helps patients identify and seek help for specific problems, providing education within the scope of the role under the direction of the provider.
  6. Assists with routine follow-ups and schedule additional laboratory tests and outside referral appointments with provider direction.
  7. Participates in the orientation of new personnel.
  8. Attends and participates in staff meetings and other meetings as directed.
  9. Attends mandatory safety-related and infection control in-services.
  10. Shows sensitivity to the cultural diversity of the population served and maintains client age-related competence.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned by the clinical manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education/Training: High School Diploma required. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent medical training required.
  2. Experience: 3-5 years as a Medical Assistant required. Prefer experience in an ambulatory health care environment and working at an FQHC.
  3. Certification: American Heart Association CPR/BLS Certification required.
  4. Preferred Skills: Bilingual skills preferred.
