Context/Scope:

Our operations come with the requirement to have various licenses to operate depending on our presence in the state. The licensing specialist must maintain our entire portfolio of state licenses, both in the states we have distilleries/breweries, or states where we are an out of state supplier. Each state is on its own schedule. Additionally, we must maintain our bonds, and trade names in these states, as well as keep our corporate officers up to date when changes may happen. This position is responsible for making sure this is maintained in all states. This position works closely with Legal as well as Regulatory, and acts as our contact person for licensing communications for the states and forwarding any tax or other communications from the states to the appropriate person if mailed to them. It is desired that this person be a notary in their state of residence (not required on hire but will need to get this post assuming role).

 

Purpose

  • Establish Best Practices:  Provide best practice standardization and codification to maintain licensing renewal schedule, as well as how to handle when state laws impact our licensing. Maintain communication, both externally and internally with key stakeholders
  • Provide Technical Support:  Ensure compliance to the State regulations on licensing. Must be willing and comfortable with reading state and federal regulations.
  • Assure Compliance:  Maintain audit ready principles, with accurate record keeping.

Management Responsibility

This role is based in Plainfield IL, or Stamford CT or New York NY. and reports to the State Beverage Compliance Manager in Plainfield, IL. This role has responsibility to ensure compliance with licensing regulations. The role works closely with Legal, as well as with the brand registration specialists, and will also work with state excise. Travel is not required. There are no direct reports to this role.

 

Complexity of Role

  • Familiarity with the Code of Federal Regulations, specifically Title 27
  • Expert at preparing documentation and paperwork, with clear communications.
  • Comfort reading state regulations and contrasting with Federal.
  • Comfort complying with state regulations, and deadlines.
  • Interact with government officials, as well as key internal stakeholders.
  • Establish best practices and standards in conjunction with other team members.
  • Maintain large portfolio of licenses without lapse.
  • Experience with alcohol beverage licensing
