Host Team

COMMUNICATION is the key

The Host Staff is responsible for creating the first and last impressions of the Station experience. Starting the steps of service as guests are greeted and seated. Remaining focused on and prioritizing turning tables. Assessing server station status, table conditions and recognizing the need to control the pace. Cognizant of the kitchen condition and tracking the number of menus on tables.

Day to day

·       Welcome guests promptly in a polite manner to provide a warm greeting, displaying a high-quality level of service

·       Recognize regulars by name

·       Converse with guests in an outgoing and friendly manner

·       Seat guests efficiently, focus on them, their needs and engage to gain insight

·       Notify servers as tables are seated to ensure prompt attention

·       Assist with and direct the clearing of tables throughout the shift

·       Clean and organize menus throughout the shift

·       Focus your attention on guests' needs and remain calm, professional and courteous, even when under pressure

·       Own the situation and make decisions using the LEARN model

·       Notify a leader of opportunities and accolades at the time they occur

·       Practice good service recovery by rectifying any complaints using the LEARN model

·       Maintain stock levels and cleanliness in guest bathrooms (hourly checks at minimum)

·       Close out stand at the end of each shift and maintain it in an orderly fashion

Details

·       Utilize the Toast Tables process and procedures to accurately document the flow of guests

o   Waitlist usage

o   Call ahead procedure

o   Reservations

o   Special events

o   Private dining room

·       Seating guests

o   Make good decisions on where you seat them – see seating guests’ guidelines for direction

o   Pace yourself, engage and remain aware of opportunities to connect

o   Share any pertinent details (special occasions, business meetings, time constraints, hungry children or themselves etc)

o   Ensure that servers are aware that they have been seated.

o   Communicate opportunities and accolades to leaders promptly
