Job Summary:

The Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, as well as minimizing the environmental impact of the manufacturing process. This includes developing and implementing policies, procedures, and programs to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Occupational Health and Safety:

·         Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive health and safety program that meets or exceeds industry standards.

·         Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and recommend Preventative actions/corrective actions (CAPAs).

·         Investigate accidents and incidents to identify root causes and implement preventative/corrective actions to prevent a recurrence.

·         Develop and implement training programs for employees on safety procedures, emergency response, and first aid.

·         Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and industry standards.

Environmental Management:

·         Develop, implement, and maintain an environmental management system that meets or exceeds industry standards.

·         Conduct regular environmental audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement.

·         Develop and implement programs to reduce waste, minimize environmental impacts, and promote sustainability.

·         Ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations and industry standards.

·         Emergency Preparedness:

·         Develop, implement, and maintain an emergency response plan that meets or exceeds industry standards.

·         Conduct regular emergency drills and training exercises to ensure employee readiness.

·         Maintain emergency response equipment and supplies in good working condition.

 

 

 

 

Compliance:

·         Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to health, safety, and environmental management.

·         Coordinate with regulatory agencies as necessary to ensure compliance.

 

Communication:

·         Communicate safety concerns and hazards to employees through regular training sessions, meetings, and reports.

·         Communicate environmental concerns to employees through regular reports and training sessions.

Budgeting:

Develop and manage budgets for HSE-related expenses.

 

Team Leadership:

Supervise a team of HSE personnel to ensure effective implementation of HSE programs.

 

Requirements:

·         Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.

·         Minimum 5 years of experience in health, safety, or environmental management in a manufacturing setting.

·         Professional certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., CSP, CIH) or Environmental Management is preferred (e.g., CEH).

·         Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, industry standards, and environmental laws.

·         Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

·         Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and multiple locations.

·         Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to loud noises, dust, fumes, etc.

·         Must be able to work in different parts of the plant regularly.

·         Reports to an Executive Team Member

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a leadership role in HSE management.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.

Proficient in Spanish
