Job Announcement for Kiva Capital Access Manager (CAM)

 

The Kiva Capital Access Manager (CAM) will hold a dynamic position on the new Business Development & Resource Center (BDRC) team to build and manage the Baltimore area Kiva hub, a responsibility recently created. The CAM will report directly to the Director of the BDRC. This is a part-time position with the potential to grow to full-time as the BDRC grows into a robust program. The organization is a is a certified Community Development Financial Institution §501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

The CAM is responsible for managing the Kiva hub and ensuring it meets Kiva Program requirements, growing the initial borrower pipeline by sharing the Kiva loan opportunity with entrepreneurs and local stakeholders, and supporting clients on the back end of the Kiva loan process.

The CAM will manage and track all borrower facing relationships in their market and offer client support in meeting impact and repayment goals for loans raised, establish referral networks within the access to capital and business ecosystem, plan and organize network events and onboarding of trustees.

The CAM will have significant customer and public contact and a drive to assist existing and potential entrepreneurs in their efforts to access capital to achieve financial success and improve the overall economy of Baltimore.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

● Manage Local Borrower Experience

o Monitor the inbound borrower pipeline, triage support requests and new applicants, and monitor metrics to ensure borrowers are meeting goals.

o Connect borrowers to local Trustees and TA resources.

o Help borrowers throughout the fundraising process: answer questions, provide coaching as needed using fundraising templates/strategies.

o Spread the word about currently fundraising Kiva profiles through the Hub’s networks, social media channels, newsletters, etc.

o Review and assess new applications daily, working with Kiva HQ for final review.

o Undergo training provided by Kiva as needed.

 

● Manage Repayments, Delinquency, and Defaults

o Implement repayment strategy throughout the pipeline to ensure responsive, motivated, and Trustee-backed entrepreneurs are reviewed.

o Maintain communication with borrowers to encourage and reinforce the importance of timely payments.

o Assist borrowers in setting up automatic repayments and ensure accounts are set up correctly.

● Partnership & Community Development

o Work with the Kiva US Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Manager as appropriate to implement and promote the Baltimore Kiva Hub Program.

o Cultivate a network of economic development and small business lending resources and stakeholders, including potential Kiva Trustees.

o Train both existing Kiva Trustees and potential new Trustees to act as technical assistance providers to Kiva applicants.

o Host or support workshops about access to capital, highlighting relevant capital access providers beyond Kiva.

o Plan or support local outreach and engagement events; Coordinate, schedule, and plan presentations as they arise.

o Respond to informational inquiries about Kiva from prospective partners within the market.

o Promote technical assistance and small business advancement opportunities among Kiva’s partner networks.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:

● Experience with small business lending.

● Community development experience is a plus.

● Possess ability to work in a fast-paced environment, work independently, highly organized and a critical thinker.

● Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills; ability to engage, communicate with, and establish rapport with persons of diverse ethnic, racial, and cultural backgrounds.

● Good mathematical aptitude coupled with data entry and keyboarding skills -- ability to enter data with speed and accuracy.

● Effective organizational, data management and administrative management skills.

● Knowledgeable in the areas of business, finance, and accounting principles.

● Good verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable with public speaking.

● Proficiency with computer software, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Microsoft Windows, and Google environments.

● Confident and knowledgeable team member, who is not afraid to offer informed solutions when identified issues and challenges relating to loan program implementation arise.

● Well adept in use of social media.

● An AA degree or higher with a Business, Finance, Accounting, Government, or related concentration preferred. Experience can be substituted for specific concentration.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee will work in an office environment with a staggered attendance schedule.

COMPENSATION

This is a part-time position that is expected to be expanded to a full time position with benefits.
