Midsized Real Estate Law firm seeks a Controller with a strong accounting background. The Controller should have the ability to independently manage and oversee the accounting department. Reports to the managing partner. Responsible for providing weekly financials, cash flow management. Controller is responsible for providing sound metrics based on accurate and timely management of the P&L and Balance Sheet. The ideal candidate will be able to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting department.
Responsibilities
- Cash Flow Management
- Maintain integrity of the financial records by ensuring staff complies with GAAP accounting policies and procedures.
- Financial Reporting
- Manage Banking Relationships
- Bank reconciliations
- Manage General Ledger
- Manage Firm Investments
- Payroll processing for 50+ employees
- Monitor existing internal controls and work with outside accountant on quarterly and year-end tax preparation.
- File Commercial Rent Tax Returns, Sales Tax
- Insurance payments, audits, and compliance.
- Ad hoc Office Management support.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years in a management level position.
- Proven track record as a proactive self-starter.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively, orally and written, across organizational levels.
- Ability to foster positive relationships internally as well as externally while building trust and credibility.
- Team player with a focus on accountability, empowerment, and achievement.
- Must have extensive QuickBooks experience.
- TABS3 experience is a plus.
