Job Summary

The Closing Team Lead is responsible for the engagement, production and quality metrics of assigned Closing team – reporting results and discussing them with management. This role leverages expertise and observation to improve processes and to development the team in support of the Company’s growth goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages individual pipeline of loans to ensure service standards and financial goals are met. Reviews files and system for accuracy and clears closing conditions. Prepares closing package. Ensures loans are in accordance with federal and state regulations such as, but not limited to, RESPA, HMDA, and Fair Lending Practices. Approves and emails final docs to title company. Communicates with title company on final documents. Requests and reviews funding requirements from lenders and/or investors. Initiates wire amount through bank wire system.
  • Assigns files in an even and timely manner, serve as a back-up for other closers when needed.
  • Effectively communicates with team members as well as outside entities to facilitate a prompt, efficient closing of each loan. Escalation point for closing staff, internal and external partners.
  • Onboards and trains new employees as needed.
  • Assists with post-closing or insuring issues, corporate initiatives, and other special projects.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on loan closing experience in residential mortgage.

Functional/Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of RESPA disclosures, FHA, VA, FNMA, and FHLMC guidelines along with title commitments, hazard and flood insurance policies
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates a commitment to quality customer service
  • Strong attention to detail and a consistent sense of urgency
  • Well organized with the ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrates strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Works well with others
  • Proficient in all compliance-related regulations including RESPA
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Strong PC skills (MS Office products) and experience with mortgage origination systems
  • Working knowledge of Encompass preferred
