My client is an owner-operated company with owners with over 20 years of experience specializing in HVAC & Plumbing in the Construction Industry. We are dedicated to establishing long-lasting relationships with our customers, offering services ranging from small residential repairs to large commercial property installations.

Role Description:

We are urgently seeking an experienced Accounting Manager with a strong background in Sage Payroll within the Construction industry for a part-time position (32 hours per week). This role is perfect for an individual looking to apply their expertise in payroll management, accounts receivable, and bookkeeping.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Management: Oversee and process weekly payroll for our team, with a mandatory onsite presence on Mondays and Tuesdays.
  • Accounts Receivable & Bookkeeping: Manage A/R tasks, perform bookkeeping duties, and handle contract billing.
  • Financial Reporting & Budget Monitoring: Prepare and present financial reports, monitor budgets, and ensure compliance with all relevant accounting regulations.
  • Special Projects & Process Improvement: Lead special projects, assess current accounting systems and processes, and implement new, efficient procedures as needed.

Location & Benefits:

  • Location: This position is onsite 4 days a week (Monday and Tuesday are mandatory) at our office on the Peninsula in the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Benefits: We offer 100% coverage of medical premiums.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience and certifications
  • 7 years minimum experience as a Payroll Specialist/Construction Accounting or similar role
  • Solid experience with Sage (service side)
  • Proficient with A/R, bookkeeping, reconciliations, and reading contracts
  • Process weekly payroll (at least 20 employees)
  • Hands-on Construction accounting - inventory, expenses vs. liabilities, journal entries
  • Experience in Auditing financial statements
  • Experienced in large contract billing and credit card processing
  • Familiarity with lien releases
  • Familiarity with workman's comp, monthly reporting
  • Familiarity with sales tax processes
  • Hands-on experience with quarterly & annual federal and state payroll tax returns
  • MUST be extremely meticulous & have strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong leadership skills

Nice-to-have:

  • Sage reports
  • “Pink” material transfer job costing – sales tax
  • Familiar with the CA EDD Workshare Program (employees get supplemental pay
  • when slow, assists employees to fill out paperwork and process online)
  • Understands Insurance Breakdown – gen liability/umbrella/auto ins. Can figure out
  • break down by sales per department each year (to break down payables)

Special projects:

  • Account clean-up, and manual material inventory transfers
  • Set up a new inventory system online in Sage for transferring materials (to improve and streamline systems for efficiency)
