Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and efficient Legal Runner to support our legal team by handling a variety of tasks that require timely delivery and attention to detail. The Legal Runner will be responsible for delivering and retrieving legal documents, court filings, and other important materials between the firm, courts, clients, and other law offices. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the move and is looking to gain experience in a legal environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Document Delivery: Transport legal documents and packages between the law firm and local courts, government offices, clients, and other legal entities.
  • Court Filings: File legal documents with local, state, and federal courts, ensuring all filings are completed accurately and on time.
  • Errands: Handle various errands for the office, such as picking up office supplies, delivering documents to clients, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Office Support: Assist with clerical tasks in the office, such as photocopying, scanning, and organizing files when not on deliveries.
  • Client Interaction: Occasionally interact with clients during pickups or deliveries, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Mail Handling: Assist with the sorting and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail, including special deliveries and courier services.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain the confidentiality of all legal documents and sensitive information.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure that the vehicle used for deliveries is well-maintained, clean, and in good working condition.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role or in a legal environment is preferred but not required.
  • Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Communication Skills: Good verbal communication skills and the ability to follow instructions carefully.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy files or packages, and to be on your feet for extended periods.
  • Professionalism: Professional appearance and demeanor, with the ability to interact with legal professionals and clients courteously.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain client confidentiality.
  • Reliability: Punctuality and a strong work ethic are essential for this role.
