SUMMARY

Position has responsibility for coordination and execution of technical layouts, detail drawings, assemblies, and bills of material as assigned and coordinated by Project Engineers.  Detail drawings include pressure vessels, structural components, piping components and sub-assemblies, welding maps, and assembly instructions. 

The drawings may vary from 2-D AutoCad drawings to 3-D Inventor models.  Reference drawings are often available for standard parts/ equipment, but this position must be able to envision, create, and design around equipment interaction as well as skid/ piping assemblies, from initial concept through completed approvals.  The Designer works closely with multiple Project Managers, so an aptitude for multi-project coordination and organizational skills are essential.

The Vessel Drafter/ Designer is an essential role in projects meeting deadlines and customers overall satisfaction with Houston Vessel Manufacturing products; so a professional and positive attitude are principle to growth and advancement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow customer technical specifications and incorporating into drawings.
  • Prepare engineering drawings with sufficient detail to define equipment fabrication.
  • Consults with project managers regarding drawing accuracy, design, and drafting standards.
  • Layout, design, and detail components and assemblies to project requirements in a timely manner.
  • Layout structural drawings with weld callouts and weld maps for certified project requirements.
  • Assemble component drawings for General Arrangement drawings, including overall dimensions, workspace restrictions, and securing and lifting requirements.
  • Maintain an organized log or directory of project drawings, including back-ups, revision levels, and supporting documentation for final project release to Project Manager.
  • Be responsible to Manufacturing changes and update drawings to reflect "As Built" changes to final drawings.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Related work experience in the pressure vessel Drafting/ Designing discipline.
  • Proficient in using recent versions of Autodesk AutoCad, Inventor knowledge is a plus.
  • Working knowledge/ experience/ skills in the Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Experience with industry standards and codes, such as ASME, TEMA, PED, CRN, ANSI, & ASTM is beneficial.
  • Able to conduct field verification of designs prior to, during, and after construction.
  • Team worker that is able to cooperate with all departments.
  • Experience in working with multiple tasks or projects.
  • Successful completion or pre-employment physical, drug and alcohol screening.
  • Background screening includes previous employment, education, and criminal history.
  • A safety-minded awareness is required along with a positive willingness-to-learn attitude. 

EDUCATION

  • Associate's Degree or its equivalent education
