JOB TITLE: Leadership & Advocacy Trainer & Coordinator

ORGANIZATION: Nonprofit Organization

PART-TIME – 15-20 HRS PER WEEK

PAY SCALE – $22 – 25 approximately $1200 – 1500 PER MONTH

DURATION: 6-9 months (EXTENDED UPON GRANT RENEWAL)

START DATE: Soon

LOCATION: Hybrid - Some work remote some work in-person in the community

This nonprofit organization is promoted to decrease the disparity and increase access for Black/African American families experiencing developmental disabilities. The Parent & Community Leadership & Advocacy is a community centered training series to increase the participation of families in civic and community decision making related to persons experiencing disabilities.

Ujima: Collective Work and Responsibility

· Support and maintain communication with families and community members in the network

· Assist with coordinating training and other events including scheduling speakers

· Assist in the development & implement an outreach strategy to inform & engage the community.

· Conduct community outreach to establish and increase participation in project services and initiatives.

· Recruit, oversee and provide leadership for college interns and volunteers

· Oversee development of materials for dissemination.

· Assist in the development of surveys and pre/post test tools.

· Develop and maintain productive relationships with various stakeholder groups

· Reliable transportation for outreach activities

· Implementation of the project plan and implementation.

· Collect and review monthly data collection

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Sensitive & Passionate Conversation with parents/caregivers of individuals with developmental differences

· Experience working with In-person and Virtual Meeting Online Platforms

· Exceptional interpersonal skills, including highly effective communication abilities;

· Must be detail oriented, able to organize multiple tasks and priorities, and to effectively manage projects with minimal assistance;

· Ability to change the focus of activities, when needed, to meet changing priorities;

· Highly Proficiency in Office products (such as Google Workspace & Microsoft, Canva, ConstantContact.)

· Collect data information and Ability to use data on a regular basis to engage in problem solving; a true understanding of the term “data driven decisions”

· Highly competent and culturally aware of the Black/African American population and the challenges and opportunities that face the community related to access to information and services

* Understanding of Developmental Disability and services

 

Preferred

Familiar with the San Gabriel Valley

Familiar with the Inland Empire

Familiar with developmental disabilities

Bachelor Degree or expected completion date with within a year

5 + Years Experience
