About the Organization:

Since 1993, Step 1, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing transitional housing and support services to adult men with substance use and mental health disorders. Our mission is: “Serving the community by providing transitional housing and supportive services to adult men who have been diagnosed with a substance use disorder and who seek to re-enter society as self-sufficient, responsible fathers, individuals and citizens.”

Position Overview:

The Executive Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for Step 1. The Executive Director will oversee all aspects of the organization's operations, including program development, fundraising, financial management, grants management and community relations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in non-profit management, substance disorder counseling, a passion for serving individuals in recovery with criminal justice backgrounds, and the ability to lead a dedicated team of staff and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

-          Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the organization's mission and goals in conjunction with the board of directors.

-          Oversee all programmatic activities, ensuring they are aligned with the organization's mission and values, grant objectives.

-          Provide leadership and support to board members, staff, and volunteers.

-          Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, community partners and the 12 Step community.

-          Manage the organization's budget and financial resources, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability in conjunction with the board of directors and board Treasurer.

-          Oversee & coordinate with board of directors and staff for fundraising efforts.

-          Experience with grant writing, grants management, donor cultivation, and special events.

-          Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and evidence-based practices.

-          Represent the organization in public forums and media interviews.

-          Coordinate and oversee agency insurance policies with TH Program Administrator; workers comp, liability, director’s & officers, employee health, dental, vision, etc.

Qualifications:

-          Bachelor's degree in a related field (Master's degree preferred).

-          Minimum of 5 years of experience in non-profit management, preferably in the field of substance abuse with supportive housing.

-          Strong leadership and communication skills.

-          Demonstrated ability to coordinate with the board to develop and implement strategic plans.

-          Experience in fundraising and financial management, including working knowledge of QuickBooks for non-profits software program.

-          Knowledge of Confidentiality/HIPAA laws, regulations, and SAMHSA’s best practices in non-profit substance disorder program management.

-          Passion for serving individuals in recovery and a commitment to the organization's mission and values.
