Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in monitoring the culinary operations and activities.
  • Participates in the development of menu items and plate presentations.
  • Checks freshness and quality of ingredients.
  • Ensures that food is prepared and cooked to the highest standards.
  • Directs and instructs the culinary team in the absence of the Executive Chef.
  • Trains kitchen personnel in food preparation, cooking techniques and food safety procedures.
  • Evaluates staff’s performance.
  • Works with management to create a memorable experience for customers.
  • Maintains inventory, rotates stock and prepares orders.
  • Completes prep sheets and prepares items for the following day.
  • Complies and enforces all sanitation regulations and safety standards.
  • Establishes cleaning schedules.
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.

Experience & Skills:

  • Knowledge of menu planning, food presentation, and restaurant operations.
  • Must possess strong communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Culinary degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant culinary experience.
  • Knowledge of cost and labor systems.
  • Passion for food and cooking techniques.
  • Must be a hands-on, team player.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
