The Senior Cybersecurity Policy Advisor will be responsible for providing strategic advice and guidance on cybersecurity policy within a federal agency. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of cybersecurity policy development, has the proven ability to collaborate among stakeholders with complex mission objectives, and has excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write policy that meets federal requirements and accommodates the complex mission objectives for stakeholders.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with various technical stakeholders and decision makers to gather input and build consensus around cybersecurity policy initiatives.
  • Conduct and document in-depth research on complex cybersecurity policy issues, gather data, and assess the effectiveness of current policies.
  • Brief senior officials or executives on policy implications and potential impacts to the agency and stakeholders.
  • Review policy documentation including memos, briefings, and other communications.
  • Adapt to changing laws, regulations, and federal guidance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of experience in cybersecurity policy development or oversight
  • Comprehensive understanding of the NIST special publication catalog
  • Proficiency in interpreting external guidance from authoritative sources like OMB, CISA, etc.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proven ability to collaborate as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
