We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Actuary to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive actuarial reports to the Department of Labor (LABOR) and laying the foundation for our future actuarial reporting across the next contract periods.

Key Responsibilities:

Actuarial Foundation Report:

  • Deliver Report: Complete and deliver the Actuarial Foundation Report to LABOR, which will serve as the basis for future actuarial reports.
  • Assumptions Analysis:
    • Identify and report key assumptions driving the adequacy of the program.
    • Review and provide opinions on assumptions provided by LABOR.
    • Propose new assumptions and perform sensitivity analysis on key assumptions.
  • Stress Testing:
    • Report the results of stress testing on the current recommended contribution rate of 0.9%.
    • Assess the sensitivity of premium contributions on the solvency of the FAMLI Trust Fund.
    • Determine the appropriate level of solvency required for the program based on stress tests.

Actuarial Forecast Report:

  • Solvency Forecasting: Complete and deliver the first Actuarial Forecast Report of FAMLI Trust Fund solvency for the five-year period, including:
    1. Employee and Wage Projections: Projection of eligible employees and taxable wages.
    2. Employer Projections: Projection of covered employers by size and the number of employees, including taxable wages.
    3. Private-Plan Behavior: Projection of employers’ private-plan acquisition behavior and its effects on other projections.
    4. Claims Projections: Projection of claims for each leave type.
    5. Contribution Projections: Projection of contribution amounts received based on various contribution rates and private-plan behavior.
    6. Discounted Rate Effects: Projection of the solvency effect of discounted contribution rates for employers with fewer than 15 employees.
    7. Investment Income: Projection of investment income.
    8. Fund Balances and Ratios: Projection of fund balances and fund ratios.
    9. Ongoing Expenses: Projection of ongoing expenses.
    10. Documentation: Clear and concise documentation of data, assumptions, and analytical methods.
    11. Future Changes Evaluation: Evaluate potential future changes to the FAMLI system and provide recommendations.
    12. Premium Rate Recommendations: Provide a range of recommended mandatory premium contribution rates for designated period of time.

Finalization and Integration:

  • Report Revision: Integrate any comments from LABOR, revise, polish, and finalize the first Actuarial Forecast Report of FAMLI Trust Fund solvency for the five-year period.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Actuary or other related fields.
  • Professional actuarial designation (e.g., ASA, FSA) preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in actuarial analysis.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and integrate feedback effectively.
