Job DescriptionJob Description

The Import Planner is responsible for the day to day tasks required to keep import operations of HVAC equipment running smoothly. Maintain availability of import products by reviewing stock policy, sales, and purchase plan constantly and create and submit data for reoccurring reports, attend product meetings, translate incoming container and air shipment information into usable formats, and update item tables used to drive reports. Skills and willingness in communicating with manufacturers in a Global Supply Chain network and other departments are essential.   

Position Responsibilities may include; 

  • Support planning purchasing amount based on sales forecast, on hand inventory, and inventory target.  
  • Collect and organize details for direct shipments to customers by communicating to proper departments. 
  • Refresh data, verify accuracy, analyze results and publish reoccurring reports. 
  • Retain general understanding of product offering and model relationships. 
  • Attend meetings regarding new product introductions and transitions and implement into planning documents according to release dates.  
  • Assist with preparation for budget planning by compiling forecasted production request.  
  • Work with team and data analyst, as needed, to compile data summaries or ad hoc requests.   
  • Maintain department item tables including adding new models and notifying of phase outs.  
  • Maintain working relationship with multiple departments as needed including engineering, marketing, procurement and customer service. 
  • Ability to work in a multicultural setting and effectively communicate with counterparts stationed overseas.  
  • Gather and organize information on problems or procedures. 
  • Analyze results and set up reports containing respective conclusions, ideas, and general guidance. 
  • Adhere to Daikin’s Code of Business Conduct, core values, corporate policies, procedures and standards. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned. 

Nature & Scope:

  • Applies advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience 
  • Manages projects and processes while working independently and with limited supervision 
  • Coaches and reviews the work of lower-level professionals  
  • Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex; takes a new perspective on existing solutions 

Knowledge & Skills:

  • A strong understanding of import processes including surface and air shipments, incoterms, and lead times from international locations.  
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain management is preferred.  
  • Exposure to a manufacturing environment is required.  
  • Microsoft Office applications with advanced Excel skill are required  
  • Must be detail oriented and able to maintain a high level of accuracy for data entry tasks as well as be adept at creating methods to avoid discrepancies.  
  • Effective organizational and time management skills 
  • Great verbal and written communication skills including business acumen 
  • A working knowledge of SQL and ERP system experience is desired. 

Competency:

Experience:

  • At least 2-3 years of international experience in a supply chain, logistics, or purchasing role with exposure to an extensive portfolio of imported products from multiple international locations. 

Education/Certification:

  • High School degree or GED is required 
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred
