We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Product Design Engineer with expertise in FEA, 3D design, and DEA methodologies to join our dynamic team at our Mankato, MN facility. In this role, you will be instrumental in the engineering and design of our industrial and commercial door systems, focusing on the development of operator and control systems. You will work collaboratively with Project Managers, Sales, Operations, and Engineering teams to create effective door solutions and detailed fabrication drawings using SolidWorks 3D CAD software. Your projects will range from utilizing standard design templates to developing custom solutions that meet unique customer requirements. Your proficiency in FEA and 3D design will be critical to ensuring that our products meet stringent safety and performance standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze Requirements: Review sales orders, architectural drawings, structural drawings, and specifications to determine product requirements.
  • Design and Model: Create product models using SolidWorks 3D CAD Software, leveraging standard templates, historical models, or developing custom solutions from scratch.
  • Customer Interaction: Generate submittal drawing packages for customer approval, ensuring all designs meet customer expectations and requirements.
  • Production Support: Generate detailed production drawing packages for fabrication and process engineering change order requests.
  • Engineering Analysis: Conduct engineering analysis of designs to ensure conformance with design criteria, including wind loads and structural requirements.
  • Manufacturing Support: Provide engineering support to operations during the manufacturing process, ensuring quality and efficiency.
  • Sales and Customer Support: Assist the Sales Team and customers with technical support and product information.
  • Quality Control: Perform daily inspections of products in fabrication to ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain support documentation, including specifications, product data sheets, and installation and operation instructions.
  • R&D Collaboration: Participate in R&D and product development projects, contributing innovative ideas and engineering expertise.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Manufacturing, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of engineering and design experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in engineering analysis and report generation.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and technical acumen.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
