Michigan Orthopedic Center is seeking a highly organized, professional Medical Office Receptionist ( full time). We are expanding our team and looking for great candidates.

Within 90 days from hire, a receptionist is responsible for:
- Greeting and registering patient at point of service

- Entering financial data

-Verifying insurance coverage

- Performing patient referral tasks

- Collecting patient financial responsibility

In general, duties include (but not limited to) providing support to the clinical team and performing initial functions of the revenue cycle in an orthopedic office.

Prior medical office or healthcare scheduling experience is REQUIRED. Skills in medical terminology and electronic health records is REQUIRED. Applicants must have stellar customer service skills, ability to multi-task, and enjoy working in a collaborative team environment. The ability to manage workflow based on volumes is expected. The ideal candidate represents the practice in a professional, service oriented manner that supports the overall mission of the practice.

Michigan Orthopedic Center is a multi-physician surgical practice serving mid-Michigan since 1990. We are committed to providing state-of-the art, high quality orthopedic care and a professional, compassionate patient experience. Our subspecialty fellowship trained surgeons treat complex orthopedic surgical issues including joint replacement of the hip, knee and shoulder, foot and ankle surgery, fracture surgery, spinal surgery and sports medicine.

Duties:

  1. Open office (unlock front door).
  2. Close office (lock front door after last patient has left building)
  3. Professionally greet patients/customers as they come into MOC.
  4. Check in/out patients, register patients, enter patient information into the computer, and schedule appointments and tests.
  5. Maintain and balance daily cash drawer.
  6. Enter office payments into Practice Management system and reconcile daily.
  7. Assist with answering the telephones.
  8. Place reminder calls to patients regarding their upcoming appointment.
  9. Maintain the organization of the waiting area.
  10. Process off work/disability forms and medical records requests.
  11. Maintain and ensure confidentiality of patient information and patients’ right to privacy.
  12. Process completed dictation, patient correspondence, and consultation documents.
  13. Fax and copy information as requested.
  14. Scan, index, and file all completed records in Electronic Health Record.
  15. Assist with patients regarding billing inquiries.
  16. Schedule and retrieve X-ray, MRI, Bone Scan, CT Scan films, and reports for physician/physician assistant review. Obtain Authorizations for Visco Supplements.
  17. Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
1 Year of Customer Service
1 Year of Medical Terminology
1 Year Computer Skills in Microsoft
1 Year Experience Using Patient Medical Database
