Supplier Quality Engineer

PURPOSE AND PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
As a key member of the product team, this individual will be thoroughly experienced in interpreting customer and internal quality requirements and assuring the existing systems for such are compliant. Will participate in design reviews and review primary documents against customer requirements, and define quality, inspection and special gauge or tool requirements. Will develop quality plans and team with Business Unit Manager during proposal phase to address quality requirements. Also reviews manufacturing planning for incorporation of inspection and test points and determine special gauging requirements. Develops inspection planning for receiving, in-process, assembly, final and test inspection.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES – other duties may be assigned
- Review manufacturing planning for incorporation of inspection and test points and determine special gauging requirements for supplier management.
- Develop inspection planning for receiving.
- Design or modify acceptance gauging and approve new gauge design or modifications.
- Conduct hardware non-conformance investigations and follow-up.
- Participate on Continuous Process Improvement Teams.
- Conduct internal audits of the Quality system.
- Participate or facilitate customer and AS9100 audits.
- Perform trend analysis on product issues and corrective actions attributed to suppliers.
- Review supplier purchase orders, ratings, and corrective actions.
- Manage the certified supplier program
- Manage raw material validation testing
- Acts as Quality Department Representative on Material Review Board (MRB).
- Assumes responsibility for supplier Quality issues on assigned product team(s).
- Assure flow-down of special requirements.
- Trained by Quality Manager and/or Quality Director.
- Write technical procedures and reports
- Coordinate and perform First Article Inspections per AS9102
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- ~B.S. Degree (or equivalent practical industry experience) in Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Engineering or related technical discipline.
- Requires 1-5 years’ experience in the Quality Assurance/Quality Control field.
- To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government.
- Proficient in spoken and written English
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, analytical skills and AVANTE ERP desirable.
- Able to problem solve and handle a variety of issues.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Ability to work well in a team as well as an individual contributor.
- Requires strong communication skills; both written and verbal.
- Exposure to mechanical and/or automated inspection techniques.
- Thorough understanding of Quality systems and problem solving.
- Ability to interpret customer requirements (drawings and standards) and implement them into the quality system or manufacturing process.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally give directions to staff and understand responses.
- The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms (keyboarding/data entry, dial phone, sort/gather, file, scan, copy documents).
- This position may alternate between a sedentary as well as mobile role at times in order to follow up with various departments in the company.
- This position would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand.
- Intermittent travel may be required by road and/or air to various clients/ vendors and/or subcontractors.
- Occasionally may include heavy lifting and moving of equipment 30+ pounds: overhead lifting, bending, prolong standing, twisting.
