Geoff McDonald & Associates is an established, medium-sized law firm with offices in Richmond and Virginia Beach, whose core practice is rooted in Plaintiff's Personal Injury and Worker's Compensation. We are looking to add a paralegal to our Pre-Litigation/Claims Team in our Richmond office. The ideal candidate will be bright, energetic, well-organized, and proactive; they must possess strong interpersonal and writing skills and be hungry to lean This is a full-time, in-office position.

Our paralegals/case managers play a vital role in our cases and work closely with our attorneys and clients. Our paralegals do not sit on the sidelines; you are an active partner in managing our cases.

In this role, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Maintain consistent and thorough client communication bi-weekly
  • Investigative work, including interviewing witnesses and law enforcement; collect documents related to same
  • Submit FOIA requests to various government entities
  • Establish and track Liability, UIM and medpay/PIP claims with insurance carriers
  • Work with our vendor to collect medical and billing records
  • Review and summarize medical records; log related bills/records to cases
  • Work with our Staff Registered Nurse to ensure clients receive proper medical treatment
  • Collect information on lost wages and lost income
  • Communicate with adjusters, medical providers, experts and vendors
  • Work with our internal and external investigators to collect, examine and preserve evidence
  • Conduct monthly file reviews with the assigned attorney
  • Manage Electronic Case Files through our case management system (SmartAdvocate)
  • Scan, name, and file documents in accordance with Firm naming conventions
  • Heavy client interaction - strong communications skills necessary

The right person will be a great communicator, dedicated, a team player, well organized, exude positivity, and capable of successfully handling multiple deadlines at once. Additionally, you must have compassion, empathy and a servant’s heart – our clients deserve nothing less Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat. Applicants should have strong customer service skills and a desire to learn and grow. Prior legal experience preferred, but we are willing to train the right person College degree preferred, but comparable and demonstrated legal/customer service experience will be considered.

Office hours are Monday thru Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
