Job DescriptionJob Description

We are seeking a Security Specialist who will be responsible for managing personnel security processes, including accession tracking, Continuous Vetting (CV) processing, security incident handling, and separation roster preparation. The role requires proficiency in security systems, data management, and report generation, ensuring accurate and timely processing of security-related activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Accession Management:

  • Assign each accession to the Security Management Office (SMO) in the Defense Information System for Security (DISS).
  • Monitor the Air Force Recruiting Information Support System-Total Force (AFRISS-TF) for accession activities and ensure accessions are accurately recorded in DISS.
  • Validate and maintain data accuracy in personnel security databases and generate reports to confirm proper accession assignments.

Continuous Vetting (CV) Processing:

  • Process CV notifications and coordinate with training units to collect and format required documentation within a 48-hour window.
  • Transmit documentation to the requesting agency in compliance with agency requirements.

Security Incident Processing:

  • Manage security incidents reported by training units, including obtaining, formatting, and uploading documentation into DISS.

Separation Rosters Preparation:

  • Prepare and review weekly separation rosters, check investigation statuses, and request cancellations from the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA).
  • Submit completed separation rosters to AETC/IP and AFRS.

Out-processing Accessions:

  • Track accessions' progress through training using 2 AF SharePoint dashboards.
  • Out-process or transfer accessions to the SMO at the permanent duty station in DISS upon completion of training.

Reporting and Statistics:

  • Provide weekly statistics on CV notifications, requests for information, and DISS processing actions.
  • Prepare ad-hoc statistical reports as requested by higher headquarters.

Lessons Learned Report:

  • At the end of the initial performance period, compile and submit a report detailing processes used and lessons learned.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in using DISS and AFRISS-TF systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data management and processing.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Competence in preparing detailed reports and performing statistical analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.

Experience Required: Three (3) to five (5) years of current, relevant experience as a Security Specialist.

Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Relevant Certification: Completion of training courses specializing in personnel security provided by the Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE).
