Key Responsibilities

  • Assess Software Patches: Conduct detailed research and analysis to evaluate the impact of software patches, registry updates, and configuration changes.
  • Cybersecurity Assessment: Provide assessments that include cybersecurity implications, system impact, and business impact.
  • Patch Deployment: Deploy patches to systems using WSUS, SCCM, and Azure Automation tools.
  • Server Support: Support and troubleshoot Windows and Linux servers within a complex enterprise environment.
  • Technical Documentation: Produce technical documents and engineering diagrams to support patch management processes.
  • Scripting and Automation: Develop and implement scripting solutions (e.g., PowerShell) for the automated installation of patches and configuration changes.
  • Process Optimization: Optimize pre- and post-patching processes to ensure proper implementation without outages.
  • Risk Analysis: Analyze potential side effects of patches and quantify risks, business impact, and opportunities for enhanced cybersecurity.
  • Vendor Collaboration: Work with product vendors to develop suitable patch recommendations without compromising system integrity.
  • Patch Remediation: Research, evaluate, design, and implement patch remediation solutions and standards following industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in patch management and supporting servers in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Skills:
    • Proven history of leading successful enterprise-class patching deployments.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Team-focused with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
    • Proficiency in scripting, particularly PowerShell automation, for patch management processes.
    • Skilled in producing technical documents and engineering diagrams.
    • Demonstrated experience in optimizing patching processes and assessing cybersecurity impacts.
    • Ability to foresee and mitigate risks associated with patch deployment.
    • Strong analytical thinking based on research and assessment of patch impacts.

 

  • Certifications: AZ-900 (Microsoft Azure Fundamentals)
  • Locations: This position allows for maximum telework; however, candidates must be located within a 50-mile radius of Washington, DC, Boyers, PA, or Macon, GA, to ensure availability during catastrophic outages.
