R&D CHEF
Our restaurant group is looking for a seasonal, part-time Chef to assist with Research and Development for new menu items across our family of five restaurants in Los Angeles Cuisine and style for our restaurants is versatile and ranges from Mediterranean to a Californian wine bar to a historic Pastrami Stand.
This would be a seasonal, temporary job, so it’s perfect for someone who loves working as a consultant in recipe development at new and unique restaurants. The ideal candidate also has knowledge about pastry and dessert, in addition to main entrée and side dishes. Once menu items are created and approved by our owner, the job will also require culinary team training on the dish preparation.
Menu creation and production can occur out of our R&D kitchen in Canoga Park, Los Angeles, for $30 per hour. In order to work out of our R&D Kitchen, you would need to have an LLC or S Corp set up for work in Los Angeles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Production and cooking of R&D samples.
- Ability to measure out and setup ingredients for recipe formulation.
- Ability to teach the culinary team how to make the dishes created.
- Kitchen organization to include necessary cleaning.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years of Sous Chef/Executive Chef experience required.
- Culinary Degree from a notable institution with a proven record of high achievement is preferred.
- Food Managers Certification required.
- Advanced knowledge of Food, Health and Safety Regulations.
SKILLS:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well with the team and the Owner/Executive Chef.
- Stand for up to 6 hours at a time.
- Bend and squat multiple times per shift.
- Lift up to 50 pounds multiple times per shift.
- Self-motivated and results driven.
