We're currently seeking a Welding Supervisor for a leading manufacturer of industrial equipment in Roselle, IL. This person will play a vital role in managing the welding department, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring that work orders are completed efficiently and accurately.

Pay: $35/hr to $46/hr

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of experience in welding shop management. (Welding Manager, Weld Shop Manager, or related roles managing or leading a welding environment/shop).
  • Experience in GTAW (TIG Welding).
  • Experience in pipe welding or pipe fitting.
  • Experience in visual inspection of welds, X-Ray, Tolerance, and Hydrostatic tests.
  • Able to read schematics, symbols, tape measure, levels, and squares for the fit up.
  • Must have experience in welding stainless steel.
  • Able to pass a 5G or 6G pipe test to certify for welding procedures, and must be familiar with ASME Section IX and AWS welding codes.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing daily operations and ensuring that work orders are completed efficiently and accurately.
  • Manager of the welding department which now consists of one welder helper and two welders.
  • At the beginning of each day, you will grab new work orders and review weekly job reports to organize these orders according to scheduled lead times.
  • Start the day with a meeting in the welding department to review work order priorities and set a game plan.
  • Assign the welder helper a list of jobs to machine and grind for the day, which may change daily, and similarly provide the welders with their list of jobs to be welded.
  • Conduct a quality inspection to ensure it has been fabricated correctly according to the blueprint.
  • Verify that the material used matches the amount specified on the work order, making corrections if necessary.
  • Once the frame is ready, they will notify the Production Manager for a final inspection.
