About the Position:

We are seeking a seasoned welding professional to join our team at Johnson County Community College as an Adjunct Railroad Welding Trainer. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality welding instruction to BNSF employees and general college student populations. You will also participate in industry update training and perform other duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach welding classes, including Thermite, Frog, Rail and Switch point, Basic Welding, Elements of Welding, Mechanical, Structural and other welding classes
  • Participate in industry update training
  • Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
  • Teach entry-level welding skills using lecture, demonstration and lab activities
  • Develop and implement curriculum to meet the needs of BNSF employees and general college student populations

Requirements:

  • American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector with 7 years welding industry experience
  • OR American Welding Society Certified Welding Educator with 7 years welding industry experience
  • OR Associates degree with 5 years welding industry experience
  • Knowledge of safety in the metal fabrication industry
  • Ability to teach entry-level welding skills using lecture, demonstration and lab activities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher with 3 years welding experience
  • AWS CWI/CWE certifications
  • Two years of teaching welding
  • Experience in vocational training of adults
