Job DescriptionJob Description

Position Summary: Successful applicant for this position will have worked in a manufacturing or fabrication and/or Production environment with 3+ years of TIG welding and be highly proficient in TIG welding stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminum. The ideal candidate will have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Must show your ability to TIG weld during the interview process to qualify for the TIG welding position.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamps parts together along layout marks.
  • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Uses Plasma Cutter if necessary.
  • Preheats work piece with torch.
  • Lays out, positions, and tacks, and final welds work pieces with zero to little oversite from engineering or supervisors.
  • Dresses weld with hand tools such as 90-degree sander, belt sander and/or grinder as well as chips spatter or slag.
  • Fabricates parts and components from shop drawings or blueprints.
  • Performs job tasks in a safe and efficient manner, observe all safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to use a tape measure and calipers using the metric and standard measuring system as well as understanding fractions and decimal system.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • 3+ years of TIG welding experience/ MIG welding experience is a plus
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure and calipers.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to assess own strengths and weaknesses; Pursues training and development opportunities; Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; Shares expertise with others.
