Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Sterilization Technician to join our team. As a Sterilization Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and cleanliness of our surgical equipment, and areas. Your attention to detail and adherence to strict sterilization protocols will contribute to the overall well-being of our patients.

Duties:

  • Daily cleaning, decontaminates, sorts, packages and sterilizes instrumentation and equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendation.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent, required
  • Operates autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaner and washer sterilizer as appropriate to provide for timely availability of instruments and equipment
  • Maintains logs/record keeping on maintenance care and sterilization load.
  • Monitors effectiveness of sterilization process by checking biological and/or chemical indicators
  • Provides appropriate sterilization indicators in packaging; documents parameters and outcomes of sterilization process
  • Rotates, stores and orders supplies as needed
  • Prepares and assembles trays, kits and packs according to guidelines
  • Selects appropriate wrapping material based on item size, sterilization methods, shelf life and nature of item.
  • Provides for proper handling and care of specific instrumentation and equipment to prevent breakage and damage
  • Inspects non-equipment items for deterioration or imperfections; disposes of damaged items in accordance with established policy and standards
  • Tests instrumentation and power of steam sterilizer and ultrasonic to ensure proper functioning prior to sterilization
  • Inventories and replenishes supply areas of nursing units and central supply; notifies Manager as appropriate
  • As scheduled, issues supplies and instruments; responds to stat requests from clinic/hospital areas
  • Participates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiatives
  • Participates in a variety of department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with Supervisor
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Assist Hygienist with charting and sterilization of rooms.
  • Maintains OSHA/WISHA, Aseptic Technique, HIPAA according to compliance and programs.
  • Maintains current Registration/Posting at Home Location.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or dental setting is required
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance
  • Familiarity with medical imaging, dental assisting, and anatomy
  • Proficiency in infection control practices and protocols
  • Experience with X-Ray imaging and software (Denticon) is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict guidelines
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
